Richard A. Brooks
“When I started as an accountant, the common theme was “ you must be pretty good with numbers”.
What I have discovered at Philipps and Brooks, being a small CPA Firm, our staff is pretty darn good with people.
We improve financial health and relieve stress, and the numbers are an integral part of it, however, numbers alone don’t begin to tell the whole picture of what we do.
We use tax returns, financial statements, and business consultations to help people we meet.
Rick has been in public accounting for over 35 years and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Accounting from St. Bonaventure University in 1983. Rick has supervised teams of accountants for all phases of simultaneous engagements from practice development, to tax return preparation, and financial reporting.
His tax experience included the preparation of corporate, partnership, individual, trust, pension, and business consolidation returns. He also became a client liaison to banking institutions and represented matters before the Internal Revenue Service and the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance.
Rick is also proficient at budgeting, cash flow analyses, grant applications, internal control studies, bonding representation, and independent audits for non-profit organizations.
He is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, and AICPA, and has served on many Boards of Directors.
